I arrived at the park with my brother Eric at 6:00 and meet up
with Linda and Coby at the picnic area. After discussing things
with them and hearing about some of the experiences
Linda had already encountered, Eric and I left to examine the
spots we intended to investigate that night. We returned to
the picnic area and met up with Rose and Scotty. Shortly before
dark, we broke into two groups and headed to our destinations. Please note that Scotty and myself were
dressed in Confederate uniforms to try to make the spirits more comfortable with us.
Scotty, Eric and myself set up on top of the Open Knob. I placed three ultra violet lights around the civil war
cannon, with my video camera facing the cannon in the direction of the Confederate attack. Voice recorders
were placed in view of the camera, and base readings were taken with the EMF meter, thermocouple, and
barometer. No EMF spikes were encountered at this time, baromic pressure remained steady, no unusual
temperature fluctuations. It should be noted that fireworks were seen and heard through out the night.
We attempted to contact the spirits of the soldiers who had died there by asking questions regarding there
units and commanding officers. No evp's were collected by Scotty or myself at this time. Numerous still
pictures were taken, many of which contained "orbs".
At roughly 10:15, Eric walked half way down the hill towards the split rail fence with the EMF meter. After a
short time he alerted Scotty and I by flashing the flashlight off and on, and we proceeded very quickly to
where he was standing, taking pictures as we walked. He told us about encountering two sharp spikes on
the EMF meter. We encouraged the spirits to do it again, but it never did. I suggested we walk to the fence,
follow it down aways, and head back up to the top of the hill. We had not taken but several steps when I
clearly saw a black shadow, about as tall as a person, moving down the fence row from left to right. I
somewhat roughly grabbed Scotty's shoulder and pointed it out, he witnessed it as well. We quickly tried to
surround the shadow but it was not seen again, and nothing was seen running away in any direction, deer or
human. I have no explanation of what it was. As we stood there at the bottom of the hill, next to the
battlefield sign, I raised my hand and asked for a hand shake while Scotty took my picture. The moment the
picture was taken, the EMF meter in Eric's hand went off with a sharp spike, and the picture showed a bright
white "orb" in between Eric and myself. We remained a few minutes longer, never encountering anymore
EMF spikes
We walked back up to the top of the hill, grabbed a voice recorder, and walked halfway back down. Eric
began to read a passage from Kenneth Noe's "Perryville" book. I layed down my voice recorder, and my cell
phone, because it was almost time to wrap things up and it was my only clock. At exactly 11:00, we were
startled by Coby walking up to join us. At the same time, my cell phone suddenly started flashing off and on.
Not recieving a call or message, just flashing, much like Morse code. I do not know Morse code so I cannot
be sure, but it continued this off and on for almost two minutes then quit. This was a Razr phone, barely two
months old. It has never done this before or since. Once Eric finished reading his passage, it was time to
break down our equipment and meet the rest of the team at the pavilian.
We met up, reviewed some of our photos and footage, then switched out locations. We set up at the
Confederate mass grave, but my batteries quickly died within minutes. Down to one voice recorder, we
stayed till about 1:30 and called it a night. No personal experiences happened here. Upon reviewing my
audio, I may have gotten a slight response to the question "who was your Captain?", but do to my video
camera being dead, I cannot rule out that it was not one of us, so it will not be submitted.
Upon reviewing my video footage of the night, nothing unusual turned up, nor did I hear anything on my
minidisc recorder or digital recorder. I would like to submit Scotty's picture taken at the time of the EMF
spike for further review.
